Sustainable cities: Mastering the challenges and opportunities of rapid urbanisation
Science and business can now make many things possible. In today's fast-moving world, however, we need dialogue more than ever before – between executives and researchers, and among policy-makers and ordinary citizens.
The aim of Future Dialogue is to create a forum for that conversation. At our first conference in Berlin in 2009, we took a look at how the world is tackling the big challenges of our time: climate change, healthcare and urbanisation. In our second Future Dialogue conference in Beijing in 2010 we focused on new approaches to the energy issues confronting us – today, tomorrow and in the future.
This year's conference in New Delhi will focus on the topic of sustainable cities. We will look at how cities in fast-growing countries like India are tackling the combined challenges of facilitating economic growth, while controlling both the environmental and social impact of rapid development.
